I’m Margaux, a destination wedding and travel photographer based in the Columbia River Gorge. I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, lived in Costa Rica for three years, and then—somewhat improbably—spent the next decade in Tennessee.

I grew up with dark green forests, gray skies, cold rivers, and beauty that rarely announces itself. Costa Rica was almost the visual opposite: bright, warm, lush, and in constant motion. Tennessee surprised me by feeling like an unlikely meeting point between the two—the layered green landscape of home with some of the warmth and ease I had loved farther south. I built a real life and much of my career there, though my heart always remained on the West Coast.

Now I’m back home in the Gorge, and I can see pieces of all three places in the way I work.

I’m trying to photograph your wedding the way it actually looked while giving my own eye a little room to have a say. That happens through a hundred small choices—where I stand, what catches my attention, the split second I choose, and how I compose the frame. The goal is simple: photographs that look unmistakably like your wedding and still feel unmistakably like my work.

I’ll offer direction when it helps and step back when it doesn’t. I care about the composed portrait and the quick, strange, perfect little frame that could never have been planned. The finished work should look like your wedding—not a version of somebody else’s—while still carrying the point of view you hired me for.

My camera is almost always with me. I’m always ready for a road trip, happiest with a plane ticket in hand, and entirely incapable of ignoring a dog. I know how lucky I’ve been to see so much of the world, and I’m deeply grateful that this work has allowed me to build a life around curiosity. It still feels like an incredible deal.
